After the war in Gaza occurred in May 2021, thousands of Palestinians were left internally displaced, as many of them lost their homes either entirely or partially. Palestinians were seeking shelter in UNRWA schools, but due to the high capacity of families seeking shelter, many UNRWA schools were unable to provide them with food, water, and basic essential supplies. PFU, in partnership with Penny Appeal, implemented the ‘Cash and Resilience’ project in Gaza, making them one of the first organizations on the ground after the war ended. The ‘Cash and Resilience’ project, which was implemented from May 27, 2021 until July 27, 2021, provided 400 displaced households in Gaza seeking protection in UNRWA schools with food, water, hygiene kits, and cash aid (250 USD per household). An additional 9 displaced households were provided with 500 USD in cash aid to secure their basic needs.
